Become an Art of Ohio Artist

Art of Ohio.com seeks artists to display and sell their work on the Art of Ohio website. All artists must reside and produce their work within the state of Ohio.

Glass; Furniture and Lighting; Jewelry; Ceramics; Sculpture; Wood; Metal; Fiber; Paintings; Prints; Photographs; Collage; Quilting; Baskets and Other Media. 

 

Application Process 

Application must be made by mail and include: 

-          A complete Application form with all fields filled out.   

-          Check or Money Order in the amount of $25 made out to ACEnet (Application fee). 

-          A CD with digital images (JPEG) of up to three images.  No emailed images will be accepted. (See photo specifications below) 

-          Dimensions, description, medium, and price of work submitted. 

-          Artist’s brief biography (in Microsoft Word) and photo of Artist in JPEG format. 

Please - all above information is necessary for a quick turn-around procedure.

Images 

Images should be in JPEG format, high resolution (300 dots per inch).  It is preferable to photograph all images on a seamless white background.  If your application is accepted and your images are not on a seamless white background, your work may need to be photographed again by an Art of Ohio photographer. A $10 fee per hour will be assessed. 

 

You may submit images of up to three pieces of your work.  We encourage several detailed images of each piece. CDs will not be returned. Your images CD should be included with your Application form and check or money order. 

 

About the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks (ACEnet) 

ACEnet is a non-profit economic development and business support organization. 

In 1991, ACEnet established a small business incubator that offers shared services.   

 

ACEnet’s Business Incubation Services include office, kitchen, and light manufacturing space at below-market rates and includes shared equipment or services that businesses would otherwise be unable to afford on their own 

 

The ACEnet Ventures Fund offers financial assistance to small businesses to create quality jobs for low-income residents in specifically targeted areas of Appalachia. 

 

Art of Ohio.com is based on the same premise of shared services.  The website is maintained by ACEnet, a photographer is provided for product shots, and regional marketing is provided.  Art of Ohio.com provides entrepreneur orientation and trainings as well.  Art of Ohio.com asks a 30% commission on all items sold online. All artists are required to show the Art of Ohio.com logo on their printed materials, and link to the Art of Ohio.com website.  

 

Galleries:  Art of Ohio continuously promotes Ohio's art galleries.  AOO has an ecommerce newsletter that lists Ohio gallery hours, tours, workshops, etc. Galleries just need to log onto http://www.artofohio.com and go to the Contact Us page to fill in their information.  Art of Ohio requests a link on both the gallery's website and the artist's website (if applicable). 

 

If a gallery refers their exhibiting artists to Art of Ohio and they are accepted to be on the website, AOO asks only 15% commission. Artists have been marking their web prices up to accommodate commissions.  The value for an artist is to maximize visibility. Art of Ohio markets extensively outside the region and to Ohio government.
