My name is Scott Cornell, and I’m a management consultant for a company located in Chicago. I work with companies to improve their processes and operations in order to increase their profits through waste reduction. I have worked as a social worker, teacher, juvenile counselor, and manufacturing supervisor. During all of these jobs, I always thought of art as a creative outlet. As a consultant, I travel around the world 70% of the year. The other 30%, I relax at home with my family in Athens, Ohio and South Charleston, West Virginia by painting and drawing. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio State University in Business Administration, and a Master of Science from Xavier University in Criminal Justice. Besides drawing and painting, some of my other hobbies include reading, playing guitar, riding motorcycles, and snow skiing. As a management consultant, I’m frequently trying to look at things through a different lens to come up with the best possible, often creative, solution. One part of being a management consultant is order and organization. It is important to find the one best way for a process to be completed, or the one best place for a machine to be located. This is one reason I am so attracted to abstract art. Art is freeing and relaxing to me. There can be order, or there doesn’t need to be order. You can do whatever you want.
